I'm in the hospital. nothing too serious. a thread 🏥 -

about a year ago I had an appendicitis. I really didn't want to deal with surgery so I treated it with antibiotics, understanding there was a likelihood it would return. last night it decided to return

took a yellow cab 🚕 to the emergency room at 3am today. something so NYC about taking a taxi to the hospital, made me smile despite the pain

somehow they confused my birthdate making me an even 100 years old.

I've heard the joke 'you look great for your age' eleven times so far today. hospital staff loves telling it and I laugh everytime so it's a solid win/win in the humor department

nursing staff very impressed with my low heart rate. 42 beats per minute while sitting. An elephants is around 30.

surgery happened a couple of hours ago - I hate being put under, general anesthesia scares me, but an apendectomy necessitates so out I went 💤

some serious mind erasing anesthesia, when I woke I it felt like seconds later but was closer to an hour.

Surgery done, all good 👍 forgot to ask if I could keep the appendix..

when humans were designed what was the thinking behind the appendix and wisdom teeth? they're useless and a pain to remove.

woke up in recovery. nurses were super great. answered all my stupid questions (before you say 'there are no stupid questions' know that the majority of my questions were requesting different color socks, they asking why they didn't offer other colors etc.)

they are sending me home!!!!!!

woke up at 2:30am with crippling abdominal pain. 15 hours later I'm heading back home after diagnosis and surgery to remove the inflamed appendix. thank you @nyulangone medical staff for being excellent in every way.

The rain stopped and sun came out just as we headed home ❤️
