First of all, yes, the Democratic Party *was* the party of slavery and segregation for most of the 19th century and the early 20th century. And yes, the Republican Party in Lincoln's era was the party of civil rights!

I just had to block a very persistent troll in my mentions who kept insisting I never "admitted" black voters switched to the Democratic Party for economic reasons in the New Deal and I never "admitted" most Southern Democrats in Congress stayed in the Democratic Party.
I thought I'd "admitted" all of this stuff enough by now, but apparently not.

So, I'll go ahead and repost the first thread in my pinned tweet for all those demanding admissions and for anyone else who, you know, wants an overview of the party realignment on civil rights.

2. Bolsonaro has described himself as the first Brazilian president to not be anti-American in decades, and that his government has committed to changing Brazil’s business environment. He recently removed visa requirements for Americans visiting Brazil as a gesture of goodwill.
3. Bolsonaro has been accused of being anti-immigrant. In an interview with Fox News aired recently Bolsonaro said he agreed with Trump’s wall as “most immigrants do not have good intentions.“ One of Bolsonaro’s ministers in the delegation on this trip also visited the CIA.

If this is surprising to you, you don’t really understand the purpose of the “US healthcare system.” It’s designed to 1) employ extra people through inefficiency & 2) make some millionaires.

Not to “deliver health.”

It’s protection money. Like you pay to a local gangster to keep from getting beat up.
People who think US government health care spending is not sustainable have clearly never looked at the budget for the Department of Defense.

Trump calls the Rio Grande "legendary." He says they started wall construction there today. (Not sure, but I know they were planning to starting building their first new fencing of Trump's tenure, in the Rio Grande Valley, by this week.)
Trump usually says that the many cameras on him at rallies is like the Academy Awards. This time, he said it's like the Academy Awards "used to be."

The child is napping and I have some thoughts on this news given my familiarity both with the folks breaking elections financing law and the elections financing laws themselves. #ableg
Both the Alberta and federal governments have introduced laws to regulate elections advertising. This is, by and large, a good thing. We don’t want billionaires buying elections.
So how did the Alberta government do this specifically? They put financial reporting requirements on orgs doing political/election advertising and introduced spending limits around elections.
