As far as I am concerned, the two main personality types within the Myers Briggs community are charlatans and mugs. There maybe a third i.e. the abused as in "We were forced to take these tests" but that's a failure to use the traditional - 'eff off, you muppet -response.
Most amusingly is when people tell me I should have respect for other peoples opinion ... What? Like flat earthers? There is no scientific support for Myers Briggs. More use can be found in Astrology. Here, have some crystals.
X : That's incredibly rude comparing Myers Briggs to Flat Earthers.
Me : Fair point. My apologies to Flat Earthers everywhere, at least you're not trying to create a scam of an industry causing endless damage.
X : Simon is a classic ENTJ
Me : I don't mean to cause offence but ... [English etiquette for I'm going to cause offence and I don't care but I'm going to be disingenuous] ... eff off :-)
X : they have members all around the world.
Me : They also have Operating Thetans and Xenu and ... oh, wait I'm confusing it with another. Lots of people tend to believe lots of "interesting" stuff.
... I don't have an issue with belief, I just have an issue when a belief tries to pass itself off as a science. By any measure, in the scientific world, Myers Briggs was dead and buried long ago.
If you're going to use Myers Briggs, then accept it for what it is. A non scientific belief on personality. It has no more validity than astrology and possibly, even less so since astrology is a longer held belief.
Astrology at least has the courtesy of not trying to pass itself off as science which is why I'm far less harsh with its believers. I take a view of "people with different beliefs" rather than charlatans and mugs. Crossing the line is where I get annoyed i.e. creationists.
So, for example, my mother is a fervent believer in astrology. However, with an economics and science background, my mother will be the first to tell you that is has nothing to do with science.
X : But I find Meyers Briggs useful.
Me : That's fine to you. But you don't get to claim it's scientific, you have to accept others will disagree with your beliefs and you certainly shouldn't get to enforce your individual beliefs on a workplace environment ...
... as far as I am concerned, the use in workplaces of Myers Briggs is tantamount to abuse by enforcing one individual beliefs (i.e. not some commonly accepted view or ethic in a society) onto others. I have no respect for this, in fact I view it should be criminal.
... beliefs like Myers Briggs, Astrology, Creationism, Flat Earthers should be kept in the home and or in special interest groups. They have no place at work or in general education.
Of that list ... two ... creationism (in general education) and Myers Briggs (in some workplaces) cross that line and rightly deserved to be attacked.
