Yesterday, a Justice Dept lawyer told judge overseeing Maryland census case that the administration's decision not to pursue citizenship question was final, per lawyers involved. The judge said he wanted that in writing by Monday. Nothing on the docket so far

Judge Hazel, who is presiding over Maryland census citizenship case, has set a call for 3:30 w/ lawyers in the wake of Trump's tweet which contradicts what Justice Dept lawyers told him yesterday

Now Judge Furman, overseeing similar census case in NY, has asked government to state its intentions soon after the 3:30 call in the Maryland case

Reminder that Solicitor General Noel Francisco, Trump’s top Supreme Court lawyer, repeatedly told the justices that census questions had to be finalized by the end of June. That was a key reason the court took up the case in the first place
