NEW from attorney David Boies: "The victims have been notified--sometimes directly by the prosecutors, sometimes through their lawyers."

A major fault of the Florida plea deal was the lack of victim notification, which a federal judge ruled made the agreement illegal.

The DOJ swapped out attorneys on the census case without explanation.

Reminder: SDNY previously withdrew representation in the Census lawsuit, before being replaced by the last Main Justice team.

Judge Furman had questions about that and probably will about this too.
This was a footnote from one of Judge Furman’s rulings strongly suggesting that SDNY didn’t want to touch the #2020Census, noting he “could only speculate” as to the reasons for their withdrawal.
The WaPo’s lead rightly highlights how the DOJ’s latest census shake-up “possibly signal[s] career attorneys’ legal or ethical concerns” over the Trump admin’s maneuvering. washingtonpost.com/world/national…

16 year career DOJ attorney 1: “The tweet this morning was the first I had heard of the President’s position on this issue. I do not have a deeper understanding of what that means. But, obviously, as you can imagine, I am doing my absolute best to figure out what is going on.”
DOJ Attorney 1 continues: “I can tell you you that I have confirmed that the Census Bureau is continuing with the process of printing the questionnaire without a citizenship question, and that process has not stopped.” Ok. So things seem to going okay at this point.

2/ And it has come to this. A court is being asked to issue a gag order against the President of the United States, and to order an executive branch agency to "counteract" the President's statements.
3/ The judge shied away from the notion that he could enjoin the President from tweeting, but said that it could be possible to order the President's subordinates to "take whatever steps are necessary to counteract" the President's tweets.

A reminder that the DOJ is not supposed to be Trump’s legal department - under Barr, it 101% is!
Trump is thumbing his nose not only at Congress, but also at the Supreme Court when things don’t go his way. His Department of Justice has been used as a tool for both.

He is getting away with all of it and has suffered no consequences for anything.
