So yesterday @MikeMadden tweeted out this charming story about how his Russian Jewish great-grandfather Baruch Medvene ended up with an Irish last name.

He tagged me in it, and once someone gives me a genealogical challenge, I can't let it go. 😏 So...

@MikeMadden I did a little digging and this morning I found his great-grandfather's arrival into the U.S.

He arrived at the port of Philadelphia on the 14th of May, 1891. Baruch Medwinksi is not quite three, traveling with his mother and siblings.

But something else caught my eye.
@MikeMadden The family traveled from Glasgow, and a birth record with Mike's great-great-great grandparents names from Great Britain popped up in my search.

My first thought was that perhaps they'd lived in the UK for a while, a way station between the Russian Empire and the U.S.

But nope.

1) My thoughts on Q and the movement or more especially the divisive nature of some in the movement. First about me: I went into the naval reserves with a 4 year degree, speak Chinese and got a perfect on the ASVAB. I went right to OCS in Pensacola, FL and came out

Wrong! The vast majority of Intel people analyze information from one entity such as Human Intel on the ground in Saudi, as an
3) example and pass this information along with their analysis i.e. best, most educated guess as to the meaning and what we should/could do about the situation. It’s an art and nowhere close to an exact science. I had access to classified info. Neato.

Padlipsky spent almost a decade of his life politely - and sometime less politely - telling anyone who would listen that ISO was garbage and TCP was here to stay.

In today's jargon: he was a TCP maximalist. 2/10
He loved working with protocols and designing them; he hated conference hopping and endless designing of specs in committee. 3/10
