Hearing @JoeBiden claim @KamalaHarris statements about busing "came out of nowhere" is such a lie that I cannot continue to accept he is acting in good faith. It came out of his comments about working with Eastland & Talmadge to get things done, but what things?
Eastland, Talmadge, and @JoeBiden worked together to get a ban on federal busing. Therefore, @KamalaHarris bringing up busing is not an attack that 'came out of nowhere." It came out of Biden's bragging about the work with segregationists.
Let's look at @JoeBiden's recent racial faux pas. He told a story about working with segregationists as an example of working with folks he disagreed with, but they were in agreement on busing. Naming Eastland & Talmadge guaranteed Biden's opposition to busing would come out.
He said they never called him "boy" as though they would, it was a term reserve to denigrate Black men. So in essence, Biden is claiming to be a white man segregationists can work with. Someone the racist working class voter might vote for because he won't shame their racism.
To emphasize how much he identifies and seeks the support of that mythical white working class man who would vote for Dems if only they weren't so politically correct, Biden not only refuses to apologize, he uses the hoary defense of all the racists in America, the racist bone.
He also essentially "boys" Booker by calling him by his first name, not Sen. Booker, but Cory. He claims a great record on civil rights but is it true? He never marched with the civil rights movement. Hell, even Mitch McConnell managed to go to the March on Washington.
Then there is this list of every Civil Rights legislation sponsored by Joe Biden in his entire history in the Senate.
Then everything that became law that he co-sponsored. I include a description of the Civil Rights Restoration Act since people are unlikely to know it. If you get federal funding, you have to comply with civil rights in all areas, not just those funded.
So that's pretty bare bones, isn't it? Of course, other issues impinge on civil rights. Abortion for example. Biden voted for the Human Life Amendment in 1981 - voting it out of Judiciary Committee, though he voted against it later.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Lif…
Like his back and forth on the Hyde Amendment, Biden seems to equivocate between his real position (anti-abortion) and his political position (pro-choice) and I don't trust him on the issue.
I still like "Uncle Joe" on a personal level, but politically, my support is dying the death of a 1000 cuts. His hoodie gaffe was just so bad that now it seems like he's cosplaying for voters who don't exist, the natural Democrats who only vote Republican to say the n-word
