Important statement from Barry Gardiner. Seems to be say the Carter Ruck letter directly relates to the Panorama Investigation, which he says “has not been balanced and impartial” and people “involved in the NDAs” have “selectively” used correspondence /1
He says the investigation is a “very partial view” from members of staff who have an axe to grind. Why is this important? Because the Carter Ruck letter doesn’t mention Panorama. It says explicitly that it isn’t about antisemitism. /2
The only specific example it gives is from March 2019 and is about Derek Hatton (perhaps they forgot that was also about antisemitism timesofisrael.com/uks-labour-sus…)

Gardiner's interview appears to confirm that this letter was in some way motivated by the Panorama leaks /3
Why does that matter? Because it could amount to unlawful victimisation, where a former member of staff is put at a disadvantage (e.g. receiving a cease and disaster letter from Carter Ruck) for making a protected disclosure, i.e. equalities whistleblowing /4
And, in fact, re-reading the letter in the context of the Gardiner interview, it's clear enough that the letter covers a whole range of disclosures which Sam Matthews may have made, many of which will have been about antisemitism. Not good. /5
