Last night during #Panorama, Labour said "Jeremy Corbyn has repeatedly expressed his support for Israel’s right to exist and for a two-state solution, with a secure Israel alongside a secure and viable Palestinian state.". Below is a thread of the reality of that "support" 1/
In 2015, Corbyn attended LFI's Annual Reception at Labour party conference and did not even say the word "Israel" 2/
He has ignored repeated invitations from our sister party, Israeli Labor, to visit the Jewish state and go to Yad Vashem, the International Holocaust Memorial and Museum. First he did not even respond, and he has still to take up the offer 3/
He was 'saluted' by Hamas for his statement to the Palestine Solidarity Campaign's 'National Demonstration for Palestine'. PSC deny Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state and do not support a two-state solution, yet Corbyn continues to be one of their patrons 4/
He did not apologise or show any regret for his participation in a wreath laying ceremony at the grave of terrorists who murdered and tortured innocent Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics 5/
He refused to support the government's decision to fully proscribe the antisemitic terror group Hezbollah, whose leader has said "if [Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide" 6/
He did not apologise or show any remorse for his 2012 conspiracy theory about the "hand of Israel" in Egyptian jihadi attacks, instead Labour's statement pointed out that his "speculation" was based on "previous well documented incidents of killings" by Israel 7/
There are not enough tweets in the world to highlight all of the anti-Israel actions Corbyn took before 2015, including his defence of Hamas, his support for the antisemitic BDS movement, and his platform sharing with antisemites and those who have murdered innocent Israelis 8/
However, since he became Labour leader, despite statements to suggest otherwise, he has not once acted to support Israel's right to exist in any way, nor to meaningfully support a two-state solution 9/
Instead, he has continued to act in the same way as he has for the past 40 years. To blame Israel at every opportunity, to deny the Palestinians of any agency, and to side with extremists advocating bloodshed rather than the progressives promoting peace 10/
The idea that Corbyn has given any support for Israel's right to exist as a Jewish homeland is preposterous. These weasel words are simply a fig-leaf as part of Labour's attempt to deny the scale of the antisemitism that has consumed a once great party. 11/11
