Before I leave aside the Great AOC Loyalty Festival today, I want to emphasize something, from this WaPo piece, about why conservatives like me - and I speak only for myself - are mistrustful of people like her and her CoS on their sincerity on climate change issues. /1
For years, I've argued with people on the left, saying: Yes, I get your point about climate change, and it's real and it's a problem. But I think your solutions are really about controlling capitalism in ways you prefer, and climate change is the cover you're using for that. /2
And of course, I got tons of huffy answers, here on social media and out in the world, about how that's a charge of bad-faith, and how could I, and ZOMG, and yack yack yack. Because of course, no one would do that. It's only about climate, and saving the earth, etc. /3
And then AOC's chief of staff just comes right out and says the quiet part out loud, even stunning one of Jay Inslee's guys, who probably thought you're not supposed to admit this in front of a reporter.

Now, I don't mind debating the structure of the economy. That's always fair game. But to cloak that in "If you disagree, you're trying to kill the planet" is disingenuous bullshit. I'm kind of glad AOC's guy just stopped pretending. But I wish she and everyone else would too. /5x
