So, @newrepublic thought they had jumped the shark when they created these two semiotics-drenched images in the first screen shot.
But it turns out they ACTUALLY wanted an entire sharknado of idiocy to rain down upon them, hence the second screenshot, thank you @stevesilberman
Let's look at the semiotics of the images in the first screenshot, because semiotics (meanings in images or turns of phrase) matter a lot and this is why they do: semiotics are used for information warfare. And for reflexive control.
The first one:
If you are a person of a certain age, and you see the phrase, "Women on the Verge" your brain will automatically complete it to: "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown." Why? Because it's a fan-fucking-tastic Almodovar film released in 1988. It was EVERYWHERE.
HOWEVER.
Using the phrase, "Women on the Verge" creates an involuntary mental association in viewers of the image's mind between those four women AND NERVOUS BREAKDOWNS. it's involuntary. it just happens. If you know the film, that's what your brain will do. Because SEMIOTICS!
Next up:
@newrepublic want you to think AOC & Bernie = the new American Gothic.
Just, NO.
No. all the no.
Democratic Socialists are not the American salt of the earth people. They aren't. They are the tea party of the left: loud, radical, and everyone else wants them to stfu.
The voters are in the center. That's where we need to be to WIN THE ELECTION IN 2020.
stop being so fucking divisive & shitting on everyone in the middle-like Mayor Pete. Unless you want the Dems to lose and tRUmp to win four more years to destroy our institutions?
is that what you want? sure seems like it. trying to primary Dem centrists with radicals like the tea party did to the moderates in the GOP. No thank you.
Enjoy your sharknado of idiocy. you went WAY too far, and hopefully it will destroy all of your remaining credibility so you can stop driving people up to the tips of the political horseshoe and away from how we win:
