It strikes me, reading how much Pericles clearly means to Boris, that he represents a venerable assumption about the Greeks & Romans that makes many classicists today deeply uncomfortable: that they shld serve as inspirations, not to study, but to action

Being inspired by the example of great men to attempt high-reaching feats oneself is, of course, a much more authentically classical response to reading about Pericles than writing about him in an academic journal.
(Although whether that is a good or bad thing is a quite different matter...)

the planets are one of, if not THE most important part of astrology, but lots of people don’t spend much time talking about them! most people focus on the signs because their archetypes seem easier to apply to people than the planets sometimes.
even though most focus on the signs in astrology, knowing what the planets represent is VITAL to be able to understand your birth chart. without the planets, there’s not much of a chart to interpret. a solid understanding of the planets = a better understanding of astrology.

Those who think this is no big deal & point to the many times prior presidents declared states of emergency aren't getting it. Trump is NOT a normal president. That declaration expands his powers dramatically & allows him to do things that would be illegal now.
Read the article - under a state of emergency, he could shut down Internet, freeze our bank accounts, take over websites, collect our communications. He could turn America into a dictatorship overnight. Don't say GOP won't let him do it. They will. They're part of this treason.

Trump & Pompeo seem to be complicit in Saudi campaign to coverup Khashoggi’s murder—one of the most heinous crimes in recent memory. We hear the right words like “Punish” & “thorough investigation,” but they’re empty of their meaning. We saw this tactic in sham Kavanaugh probe.

1/ It's Constitution Day. The day, & the Constitution, embody some very American confusions.
2/ The document contains both fundamental liberties, such as equality, due process, speech & other freedoms, some version of which need to be moral commitments/aspirations for any decent society.
3/ It also contains the ground rules of political decision-making, such as instructions for elections, judicial nominations, & impeachments. W/o these, politics is impossible. But these rules have no other special moral status.
