Home Secretary has proposed a “digitised border” in place of the backstop that could be implemented “in 2 years.” Today at @CommonsHomeAffs I tried to find out what on earth that meant. Am none the wiser

Home Sec has written to EU states on security preparations for No Deal - recognising alternatives are “more manual and less efficient” & crucially that there is an “operational gap” from losing access to the SIS2 criminal database 1/
Letter admits there is ‘no non-EU fallback mechanism’ at all for Passenger Name Records even tho it’s important mechanism for identifying serious criminals and terror suspects trying to travel to and from UK. 2/
All of this shows why the top counter-terror police officer in the country has warned that No Deal would mean a ‘very serious flaw’ in our security arrangements 3/

Here’s the Bill. It gives the Govt til end of Feb to sort things out, but if they haven’t, then Parliament would get a vote on whether to extend article 50 & get a bit more time. It gives Govt & Parliament a chance to avert No Deal in March if time has run out
The bill has limited effect - it doesn’t change constitution/stop Brexit/revoke Article 50/determine what happens next. It just gives Govt & Parliament the chance to ask for a bit more time if country is facing No Deal researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefi…
Some people may not be worried about tariffs on food, delays to medicines, clogged up ports and weakened border security - but many are really worried about the impact of No Deal on families who would be hit through no fault of their own

Today's a good day to find out from the Trump supporters in your life whether they'll stop supporting him if it's revealed in the Jeffrey Epstein case that Trump raped children. It's important to get them to commit now so if and when that fact comes out you've got them on record.
We already know that raping women, lying 10K+ times to voters, secretly negotiating a deal with the Kremlin during an election, obstructing federal investigations, and a lifetime of cheating contractors isn't enough to cost Trump support. The new question could be, is child rape?
I've learned since 2016 that to get a Trumpist to say in advance they'll accept an anti-Trump fact, you also have to get them to expressly say *how they need that fact packaged*. Testimonial evidence and major media reporting are never enough. Basically they require DNA evidence.

#Today's story to #EndFamilySeparation Four months ago, Dad and 4-month-old entered at the Texas/Mexico border and requested #asylum. Dad and child were immediately separated and the baby put in ORR custody. #FamiliesBelongTogether
Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
The Mom and Dad now have once weekly Skype calls with their 8-month-old baby. That's right, folks. They Skype with an infant. #EndFamilySeparation #FamiliesBelongTogether

Sounds good? For comparison, the 2017-18 Motorway and Trunk Road budget is £967 million for a single year. 420 years of Green Bus funding = 1 year of Motorways Funding...
