Good morning friends. An outrage a day, keeps sanity away..

Latest one is this news item. Yet another Sanitary pad/restaurant GST type outrage.

Firstly RWAs always paid VAT but never got tax credits. So GST isn't new and now they get tax credits

Improvement No. 1

Exemption limit earlier was 10L now it is 20L

Improvement no. 2

If you have multiple apartments all under 7.5K, you are exempted on ALL.

Improvement no. 3
A GST registered RWA can collect GST only if actual individual home maintenance is 7.5K or more. Earlier VAT had no lower threshold.

Improvement no. 4

Please read and share this thread with friends and family and urge them to protest and bring back the VAT regime. This sucks😇

A Thread. Might sound too gyani. Has no data. But a plan for next 5 years. Please take out some time and read.

What we need for the next 5 years are "subject matter experts" and we need to develop them ourselves. Right here. It sounds easy but isn't. Will need focus n efforts
I propose 25 subjects and 25 individuals on which we need Commentators, authors cum writer.

These ppl will have to be the SME on that particular topic. They have to be someone to whom we can look up to for information and truth.

I urge ppl reading this to choose one field.
Next step is to become a student. Work hard to understand every aspect of that field. Practical, bookish, local, international, governmental aspects regarding that field.

Become a learner. Obtain high level insights. Always aim for nothing less than excellenence. Be a teacher

A political party must do politics. That's their job. They could have mocked the way its implemented. They way its executed to score points. It wud be wrong still But they decided to mock the very idea. What sort of ppl mock something like cleanliness?
Smart Cities
Within an year of declaration these jokers started mocking idea of having smart cities. Any sane opponent would choose to attack से selection of city, speed or features to score brownie points but these hacks mocked the entire concept. Same guys haven't done ne of it

1. Gross loans of Public sector banks increased from Rs. 18,19,074 crore as on 31.3.2008 to Rs. 52,15,920 crore as on 31.3.2014.

2. During this time machine manufacturers got loans to setup hotels and hotel owners got loans to setup airports
3. It was golden period for take a loan mela based on exaggerated project reports, divery funds buy yachts and villas in foreign locations, call them co guest house and chill with your friends etc.

4. Ppl have done the above and any person with slight touch with banking will tel
5. There were various "schemes" officially under RBI rules which could be used to "roll over" loans so that they are not declared "bad".

6. Eg in simple terms: if you are not able to pay EMI, imagine the bank giving you further loan to pay up interest. Or changing term itself

Been hoping to do the MKO Abiola/June 12 thread as promised before now but events are sometimes beyond one’s control. Seeing as tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of that date, I’m sure it is definitely a good time to do it.

And so, here goes: a Thread on MKO Abiola and June 12.
It is difficult to separate MKO Abiola from the story of June 12 and the June 12 struggle because as Gani pointed out back then, Abiola was the symbol of the mandate of Nigerians and his imprisonment became the rallying point of the struggle.

And MKO Abiola was a complicated man
Even more interesting, the June 12 story itself is a most complicated one with many sides but mainly two - the political and the ethnic; and two other ones - the activism around it and on a lesser scale, the family involvement.

The common thread though is Abiola himself.
