What happens if...
1) Boris Johnson fails to get a new deal
2) BJ guns for no deal
3) Parliament decides to block no deal
4) Parliament tries to pass legislation to revoke A50

Can Parliament do that? Not clear. Why would they do it? Because a GE might still produce no deal.
So if MPs are really really serious about killing off no deal, a GE is too dangerous. Even a second referendum arguably is.

And what of the democracy argument? Well, things really will have changed. Because MPs will be faced with someone absolutely determined to inflict no deal.
So it's no longer abstract. It's something actively being manoeuvred towards.
