What happens if...
1) Boris Johnson fails to get a new deal
2) BJ guns for no deal
3) Parliament decides to block no deal
4) Parliament tries to pass legislation to revoke A50

Can Parliament do that? Not clear. Why would they do it? Because a GE might still produce no deal.
So if MPs are really really serious about killing off no deal, a GE is too dangerous. Even a second referendum arguably is.

And what of the democracy argument? Well, things really will have changed. Because MPs will be faced with someone absolutely determined to inflict no deal.
So it's no longer abstract. It's something actively being manoeuvred towards.

So many of the supposed benefits of Brexit rely on the Government playing favourites with particular sectors by means of tax breaks, funding or subsidies currently prohibited under EU law.

But there's absolutely no logical reason to expect the Government *will* act that way.
Not least, because as soon as they shower goodies on one particular sector, it sets a dangerous precedent... Every other sector will be clamouring for their share of Government largesse. The slope is just too slippery to approach.
It's a bit like a large group of friends musing how to spend a £100 windfall. "Well, I could use £50 of that and have a great meal", thinks Bob. "£60 quid of that would fix my fridge", thinks Susan. etc. etc. etc.

The LibDems should really think about the "Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU" petition - that's 6 million votes right there, if they pivot to a straightforward out-and-out remain stance from a second referendum stance... @LibDems
Especially because people really are experiencing poll fatigue. So if the outcome of a snap GE is a coalition or confidence-and-supply arrangement that demands a second referendum in short order, people will go "oh, no, not again" because they just voted in the GE.
And if the Tories are going to compaign on a pure no deal stance in their manifesto, someone needs to occupy the pure Remain high ground. It's ludicrous to leave it empty.

The 2017 election was the only chance the UK's had to express what sort of UK-EU relationship they want Parliament to secure.

54% voted for parties that ruled out No-Deal and promised Single Market access.

So if you want No-Deal, fine, but stop pretending it's about democracy.
The 2017 General Election shows that losing access to the Single Market and Customs Union and/or leaving without a deal is AGAINST the will of the people.

Labour's manifesto said it " accepts the referendum result" but "will put the national interest first" & would PRIORITISE Single Market & Customs Union access.
So, leaving the EU was CONDITIONAL on economic status quo!

Boris Johnson still wants to be prime minister. And he's only got one chance at it.
And that chance is only going to come if Theresa May fails to get a withdrawal agreement through.
If May's deal got through - say - there'd be a general election on the back of it, and win or lose, Johnson's chance at being prime minister would disappear forever.
Therefore - I love logic, it's like having spoilers but for the whole universe - therefore, Boris Johnson is determined that May's deal will never get through parliament.
