i do legit get heated talking about boomers and seniors and how people forget that most of them are like us. people forget about the boomers stuck working shitty jobs at target, wal-mart, data entry for low pay and no benefits long after when they were supposed to retire

this isn't even getting into how "boomers" as a description elides the fact that there are an awful lot of boomers who didn't get to enjoy any of that prosperity in the first place, and were crushed under its heel. black boomers, for example. boomers are not homogenous

it is important to remember that the places and people selling us this generational warfare shit are coming by and large from the comfortable. think of the outlets always publishing these articles - forbes, business insider, on and on

and then you think of the individual boomers you know that may drive you batty - it's still almost always down to comfort. the ones who have retired comfortably, who still had savings after the '08 crash, who got to have a career and didn't have to jobhunt ever again

these boomers are not the ones working as wal-mart greeters, as people stressing themselves out putting up target stock, getting yelled at by customers at the wendy's. there are grandmas working for minimum wage and no benefits. i know you've seen them, i've worked with them.

back to the outlets and magazines thing - it's important to note these same outlets also frequently publish "i'm a millennial and all of you are just whiners" and then it turns out they have tons of inherited wealth and didn't have to pay themselves for rent or college.

it is the comfortable, the wealthy and the bigoted, across generations, that are fucking us. the people trying to work us into the grave with a heap of medical debt on top are absolutely doing it to your grandparents too.

don't get suckered by generational warfare shit.
