Ada Deer, my godmother, mentor, and hero, turned 84 last week. This week, I met Cynthia LaMere, widow of great activist Frank LaMere, and got Ada a shirt to celebrate her birthday. Quote on the shirt: “Nothing changes unless someone is made to feel uncomfortable.” 
Tonight, she’s honored as one of the founders of the Wisconsin Women’s Network—and applauding an extraordinary panel of women leaders who are carrying the torch forward.

The women on this panel are leading the fight for women’s bodily autonomy, against shackling of incarcerated women during childbirth, against sex trafficking, for clean air and water, and for the empowerment of black women and girls. Big room full of fans here to cheer them on.
