I find it funny that the "free traders" never ask what caused the housing bubble in the early 2000's. Sure some say it was easy credit. Some say it was government policy. But think about it some more. What cause everyone to all of a sudden build homes, become real estate agents?
What was the impluse for the construction boom? Why did Wall Street, pension funds and other invest in homes? Why was the government pushing home ownership so hard? Why were the banks desperate to give out subprime loans?
Could it be due to the fact that real estate was the only thing that couldn't be offshored? That construction jobs was the industry of last resort for millions that lost their jobs to NAFTA and China WTO entry? Could it be that the government wanted to hide the impact of their...
...."free trade" policies destroying our manufacturing sector? Could it be that banks and Wall Street needed a new cash stream to replace the one lost to the stupid trade policies pushed by the government? While we are thinking about that possibility it comes to mind that.....
.....the dot com bubble preceded the housing boom. Funny how all these people rushed into these sectors all at once. It's almost like they were in need of jobs or something. Then when those sectors crashed and burned and there were no jobs left, it's funny how we suddenly got...
...a massive drug crisis on our hands as people couldn't find jobs in Obama's crappy economy. But hey we do get some cheap crappy products in the exchange. Who needs jobs for a large section of the population? What's the worse that could happen?
We have the technology....we can just retrain them for the next bubble..🙄🙄
