UPDATE: This is very much not the ideal in the view of some opposition parties. Several have got in touch to say they want the election asap and if they can find a way of dissolution taking place before October 31st, so long as no deal is forbidden then they’re all for it.
Indeed, intriguingly one source alluded to idea that “anything could still happen on Monday”, if no deal could be taken off table completely, they said an October election might still just about be possible.
There has been a striking level of unity of late from the opposition. It’s taken everyone, not least the govt, by surprise. But behind the scenes there are still tensions and disagreement about the specifics and what exactly what to do next.
