Thanks for the many responses and comments to this yesterday. Here is a response here to some of the most common criticisms... 1/
First, I am arguing for revoke as a GE pitch. So, if (as I think very unlikely...) this Parliament finds a Brexit solution - either a deal, or an agreement on a PV, or even an agreement to revoke - this is all moot. 2/
Second, many people are, imv, overstating the healing properties of a PV. I expand on the reasoning in the blog in this thread. 3/
Third, as many have said, it is important for the opposition to think not just about their GE pitch, but also about electoral pacts and understandings. Fwiw, I think that they can and should cooperate, even if they disagree about the substantive Brexit solution. 4/
And fourth, Labour people are struggling to articulate their current policy. Conference is looming. I know it is unlikely, but it is not impossible that Labour could also back revoke. See this (from January): 5/
Polling shows that people are increasingly exasperated with Brexit. Johnson will pledge to 'get it done'. If the opposition offer a promise of uncertainty and delay, they will only be helping his cause. 6/6
