White House just blocked two top aides from testifying. Key:

* Those aides witnessed some of Trump's most corrupt acts

* Special counsel said Congress is the only mechanism of accountability left

* Trump is closing off that mechanism before our eyes:

The big story looming in the background of the whistleblower revelations is that Trump isn't operating in our country's interests.

I talked to former Obama national security adviser @nedprice, who explained the latest developments.

It's alarming stuff:

It's easy to envision Trump phone calls with Putin or Kim Jong Un that would relate to intelligence activity.

Once again, Trump's profound contempt for journalism that holds the powerful to account is on display. Recall how he raged at Fox, openly demanding a 24/7 propaganda outlet all his own? Entitlement to impunity is Trump's most cherished guiding principle: beta.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/…
It should also be noted that Trump appears to be trying to unleash DOJ on a news organization.

It's easy to dismiss this as the usual buffoonery, since nothing will happen. But little by little, such things get less and less remarked upon, and thus become more and more routine.
Basically, Trump's efforts to corrupt our institutions are multiplying to the point where we're losing track. They are generating less and less of a response, and are coming to be seen as more and more routine. Here's another good example of this erosion:
