This language is outrageous. Corbyn is not betraying anyone. He is promising a referendum with Remain on the ballot paper, which is all that Remainers have ever asked for.
It’s not just disappointing but actually upsetting to see Swinson use language of ‘betrayal’ which has so thoroughly poisoned our national discourse. Corbyn has never made a secret of trying to reconcile Remainers & Leavers. You may not like his compromise but it betrays no-one.
Swinson seems to have fully abandoned her recent collaborative efforts to combat Britain’s existential crisis. In resuming this old aggressive tribalism she is squarely placing the interest of her party over the country - just like Johnson. I hope it’s worth it.
