If Jo Swinson wants to demonstrate to the millions of non-party-tribal Remainers that she cares more about stopping Brexit than boosting the Liberal Democrats, now would be a great time. Her current strategy will deliver both a Tory majority and a no-deal.
Extraordinary how Swinson could be so tone-deaf. At a moment of existential national crisis, people are crying out for a new kind of politics where our leaders recognise the extraordinarily high stakes & their very real common opponent. Our shitty political culture will ruin us.
Nobody’s asking Swinson to endorse Corbyn or be nice about him. She might simply stop furiously denouncing him & pretending he’s as bad as Johnson when he’s just saved us from no-deal and an early election. The path to stopping Brexit goes through Labour, not around it. Get real.
