Christians have historically mocked/punished Indigenous peoples for having a relationship to Segmekwe, Mother Earth, and our creature kin.

It hasn't changed much.
I'm grateful to @UnionSeminary for stepping into this space.

@UnionSeminary Humans can do whatever they want to the Earth, "subdue" it as they see fit, but once it's time to make apologies and acknowledge the creatures around us as living beings, we've "gone too far."

@UnionSeminary Yes, this is ALL connected, we are a settler colonial society that has, from the beginning, made a mockery of connectedness/kinship.

We traded belonging for empire/colonization, that's what we continue to inherit in the white church.

So, apologize to the plants.
And mean it.

@UnionSeminary And THEN commit to the work of dismantling systems of oppression not just so that humans can have a better go of it, but so that our creature-relatives and Segmekwe are cared for as they should have always been cared for.

Also I’m not here to argue with and try to convince anyone.
I’ve stated what I believe and what history has taught us.

I thought I was done but I'm not.

There is a reason Indigenous rights activism is one of the most dangerous in the world. The elders right now who are laying their bodies on the ground to save sacred land all over the world are honoring a Being, not just an idea.

The church as it is, entrenched with patriarchy and empire, will never see the earth as she is. It will never honor her, and in my opinion, will never truly know itself.

So, maybe we are at a crossroads.
Why does climate change matter if we don't see WHO we are fighting to save?
