/ What have I been pointing to since early 2018?

The story Comey told for why he wrote his memo didn’t make any sense. There was more going on.

/ “FBI witnesses recall agreeing ahead of time that Comey should memorialize this event after it happens”

/ So Comey goes to the Oval Office and is told to continue everything “by the book”. Then he has FBI agreeing (McCabe) that he should memorialize his meetings with Trump.
/ So we now know that this wasn’t a Comey inspired action that was done privately. This was the FBI leadership, who knew Comey had been tasked with going into Trump Tower by Obama to reveal the dossier, “agreeing” Comey “should” memorialize what happened.
/ And Comey did. Given everything else we know, you have to believe these people thought the memos would trap Trump. Keep in mind, at that point they had nothing. No evidence of collusion. They hoped to get Trump on obstruction.
/ But what did Trump do? He told Comey they should investigate and verify the dossier. WHICH COMEY MEMORIALIZED IN HIS MEMO. Keep in mind, the one on one meeting in Trump Tower was held in a SCIF that was temporarily constructed.
/ Why is the SCIF significant? Because no one could have recorded what happened there. If Comey’s goal was to entrap Trump in an obstruction charge why memorialize the exact opposite?
/ By the time the memo was done, the others must have realized their op had failed. Trump had slipped the trap.
/ Now the controversy is that people are saying, well I thought Comey said Trump wasn’t under investigation? Now we have proof Comey was lying! Except Comey wasn’t lying. He was accurate. In fact later we see others pushing for Comey to open the investigations and he refuses.
/ And after Comey is fired, what does Strzok say? That it was time to open the cases “now that Andy is acting”.
/ So what does the new evidence that Jim Jordan mentioned today really reveal? That there were people in the WH and the FBI in early January 2017 who wanted Comey to go into Trump Tower and memorialize his interactions. This wasn’t a Comey covert action.
/ That doesn’t clear Comey or obsolve him but it does give a well rounded picture of the environment in which Comey was operating.
/ I think @Joestradamus91 was right. There was a plan designed by Wittes and Brookings designed to spring an obstruction trap on Trump. There was only one problem. It seems Comey’s memos were supposed to be the key. But it seems Comey didn’t play ball.

/ What else did we learn from the IG report to support that idea? Well it sounds like Comey and Wittes weren’t as aligned at the time Comey leaked his memos as Wittes implied. There stories didn’t match. They had dinner and Wittes embellished.
/ The IG says people at the FBI were shocked that Comey leaked. Very interesting. Who was at the FBI when Comey leaked? Wasn’t the story that Comey was coordinated with McCabe? That they both wanted Mueller? Seems the leak wasn’t part of the plan.

/ So to wrap up I will simply point out that the Comey mistery still isn’t answered. Was he operating during extremely unusual times? Absolutely. Did he do things that violated policy? Yes! But did those actions ultimately help Trump? Hard to say they didn’t.
/ Well I guess I just pissed some more people off. /end
