Today's a good day to watch and see how alt-righters try to appropriate a symbol in real time.

Right now, 4channers and Proud Boys are trying to turn the Star of David into an ironic alt-right signifier.
I've written before about how a key difference between capital-N Nazis and alt-right radical white supremacists is the desire for mainstream acceptance, which requires plausible deniability around antisemitism in particular.

Disingenuous irony is a key way the Proud Boys and other alt-right radical white supremacists maintain that plausible deniability.

Take the 👌 symbol, for example.

Indeed, there was a time period in US history when the Speaker of the House was about to become the leader-in-all-but-name of the US government with the President just a figurehead; a series of "strong" Presidents and weak Speakers consolidated power in the Executive, however.
President Trump is a very weak leader. He's whimsical, ignorant and unfocused.

Congress over the past two years could have increased its power at the expense of the Executive if it so choose; Congressional Republican leaders, however, instead chose to be even weaker than Trump.
