@Dan_Wyke And what we have found is that no-one will engage in any discussion whatever about 'the effects of meds' that have been prescribed along the way … and that the most commonly prescribed (and cheap) meds are having disastrous effects...

I am white. I grew up in a lower middle class family and got a good education. Education was highly valued in my home, and I know it isn't that way in many families. Many kids grow up without someone at home who encourages and supports educational success. 2/24
Having said that, and acknowledging that I cannot appreciate the pain that racial discrimination may bring, I still say that 20 years ago we were less enlightened than we are now. We had less opportunity to be enlightened. 3/24

Hank feels like he's moving through a fog as he waits to get through security at the airport. It's odd, the way the world keeps moving even though something crucial has been cut out from within him. He's wounded, a gaping, ugly thing that he can hardly bear, but no one even knows
He thought something died a little bit inside him when Jen first told him she was leaving Detroit. They had been split for a while, and Hank was slowly adjusting to this new normal where he only saw Cole on weekends. It wasn't so bad, especially when he looks back on it now.

During the Obama years I often met colleagues for drinks on Fridays.
There was plenty of news then: a recession, two wars, drone warfare, immigration issues, more.
But the president himself was calm, controlled & not driven to telling lies that caused domestic or foreign crises.
I miss that time specifically because I was able to do more in-depth work, focus on long-term issues for the country.
There was not daily crisis reporting sucking up all the time and energy of reporters.
Stories didn't go stale in one news cycle.
People read more than headlines.
I'm not whining--just commenting.
I miss having the flexibility of taking a weekend away from news.
None of us can afford that, now.
Not reporters nor the rest of America.
Because Trump is so unstable, a long lunch can put you out of the loop.
We say this a lot, but: NOT NORMAL.
