This isn't a shot, but the truth.
When your impulses can empower you, you highlight the weakness of the mind
But what does it really mean?
I believe a practical approach to this, not a delusional one.
'Cut out all fun until you are successful' kind of advice.
If that's how you delay gratification, then salute to you.
But that's not the only way.
That's my philosophy.
'Hm.. not sure if I follow bro.'
Let's use road rage for an example.
It's your animal side kicking in.
And letting loose to your animal side is a very gratifying behavior.
You FEEL good.
That's your human side taming the animal side.
If you can't do a micro-task like that, good luck trying to do a macro task.
Like giving up partying, eating sweets, drinking excessively for an extended period of time
You react less.
The animal side to you is tamed. Not killed off.
But tamed.
But the advice got too many holes in it.
It's too stiff of an approach that doesn't lead to multi-dimensional results.
That's cool in my eyes.
Partying ain't the problem.
Lack of self control is.
-Don't go road rage mode on the car that just cut you off.
-Turn down a Friday night bar session if you got work to do.
-Don't let the person calling you names get a reaction out of you.
TAKE IT REP BY REP.
No lie.
Your strengthened emotional muscles can be applied to multiple facets of your life vs. just one.
That's the kind of results you can accumulate when you tweak your strategy.
Delaying gratification feels fulfilling when you look at each brick at a time.
Unleash it when the time is right.
Make your mind power so you control it vs the other way around.
That's how you enter the top 3%.
