So: UK leaves EU but continues to rely on it for future prosperity, as guarantor of basic social standards / citizen rights and to protect peace in Northern Ireland - all (inevitably) with little say of our own? On which planet is that "better" than remaining on current terms?
"People voted leave" isn't a good enough answer anymore. A politician with principles and courage would say: the Brexit you were sold, that they had decades to plan for and years to deliver, is just a lie & a fantasy. So let's not even pretend to make the best of such a bad job
