It's fun being multiple cycles ahead of the curve.

Not so fun sifting through all of the "smart" pundits' tweets who were not, but now pretend to have been.
It's not just industry in Minnesota. It's populism.

The success of the state’s political parties depended upon it in the platform and the presidential voting preference supports this going back to 1860.
Whether some in the Republican Party are willing to admit or are even aware of it, American populism took root in the GOP and Presidents Reagan and Bush (particularly the first campaign) both had populist undertones in their campaign’s economic messages.
Populism is at the heart of Donald Trump’s economic and anti-establishment message.

Couple that with the political establishment trying to erase the very way of life for a bloc once solidly Democratic, and you have all the makings of a sea change in a state like Minnesota.
There are a few reasons it hasn't been more evident.

1. The Ole' Good Ole' Party wing of the GOP is fighting Donald Trump on this evolution. Stupidly I might add.

2. Minnesota has taken a back seat to Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in the minds of strategists and pundits.
