What our not-so smart political/media class don't get, mid-to-long term.

The next Democrat either receives the same treatment B/C Republican voters demand it, or inevitably we'll descend into some level of violence.

That's the simple nature of our social contract.
The vote must be respected for both sides. You cannot breach the social contract for one half of the sovereign, rewind time later and expect everything to return to normal.

Big problem: We have no big thinkers anymore. Just hacks and has-beens looking for contributor contracts.
No one has really thought through this and the impact it'll have on the country, which we'll hand to our children.

The sovereignty of the voter and the separation of powers both can't take a hit at one time.

Our system is built upon both.
