1. During my last talk someone in the audience asked me if I was optimistic. Are you optimistic? Do you think the future will be better?

My answer is a clear no, let me explain why
2. Public interest is not a thing for #infosec sector. Business is everywhere. A conference organizer told me recently: "We have difficulty to find people who want to talk and have nothing to sell"
3. There is a lot of money in this sector and everybody is trying to get a part of it. As said during the @defcon talk of @schneierblog, public interest should be one of the major concern of the #infosec sector.
@defcon @schneierblog 4. My answer is no because there is vulnerability everywhere and people, companies, governments don't care. They don't want to fix it. As long as they sell their products, they don't care.
@defcon @schneierblog 5. This is why public shaming is working. Because when you publish a vulnerability, you will impact the sell of their products and so they start to consider security as an issue
@defcon @schneierblog 6. I'm pessimistic because of the disinformation. Disinformation is one of the biggest threat on our society but nobody see it, nobody is fighting it. People consume the information as it is, without checking if it is true, false, exaggerated.
@defcon @schneierblog 7. We are here, we can see the danger, we have the responsability to stop this cycle.
@defcon @schneierblog 8. So yeah, I'm pessimistic but I will fight. I will continue to find vulnerability. I will continue to fight disinformation. I will continue to talk at conferences, talk to journalists and everybody who want to listen. We have to raise awareness on these issues
@defcon @schneierblog 9. #infosec community is an awesome community but we need to open our circle. We need to stop selling our "magic products" to companies and talk to the real world.
@defcon @schneierblog 10. Stop blaming users and journalists because "they don't understand security". Take the time to explain, like this they will be able to explain to their colleagues and readers.
@defcon @schneierblog 11. If people "don't care", explain them why they should care. This is not easy, it's taking time but it's needed. And this is exactly what I did in my talks, I tried to scare the audience, make them realize they should care. If you explain correctly it will work
