An entire community in Washington stalked by two ICE agents sitting in a car, armed w/a laptop

They sit there day after day, entering license plates, addresses, names, w/access to vast databases provided by private firms

And then people start disappearing
They arrest people like Gladys Díaz Tadeo, mother of 3, who sent a FB message to someone looking to buy one of her piñatas.

She went to meet the person at the bank. She was gonna make $20.

ICE was waiting. They arrested her.

Within 3 weeks, she'd been deported to Mexico.
They KNEW she would be there. They sat for days on end surveilling an apartment complex & trailer park, getting data on all its residents, mapping out their social media profiles, their lives, so they can find a time when they're alone & vulnerable & arrest them.
The details in this piece are shocking. ICE agents have at their fingertips access to vast databases where they continuously log & access data on anyone they encounter in the field.

So when they see a license plate, they search it, get your status, address, name, & tail you.
This is all possible b/c of collaboration from private firms like @PalantirTech @ThomsonReuters @Giant_Oak

They make millions every year from selling tools to ICE, like CLEAR, which collects data the gov. isn't even allowed to collect—& then sells it back to the gov. 😠😠😠
And it started w/Obama, who signed big data contracts to "prioritize" non-criminal targets.

Under Trump, these tools were reappropriated. Now anyone could be prioritized & targeted.

...which is what you expect when you build tools of mass surveillance. It's not rocket science.
But the targeting is bullshit. They sweep people up. They arrest people like Mario Rodríguez, who fled Mexico for homophobia & had been in the country more than 12 years.

He wasn't a priority, he doesn't have a criminal conviction, but they recognized his car, so they got him.
And all for what. They're arresting people like Rosas, who was arrested after he spoke to the press, when ICE noticed his daughters were in Mexico, so he'd be alone.

Now he's in a trailer, on the couch, his daughters sharing a bed, sending money to their deported mom in Mexico.
It's a sick joke. The ICE agents are complicit in this fascism, & all the private tech firms—from Palantir to Thomson Reuters—are their collaborators.

Without them, ICE would be hamstrung. They make the deportation wheel turn, making millions off the backs of those deported.
