THREAD on why you should read @joshscampbell's astonishingly timely #CrossfireHurricane as soon as you possibly can. (I just did!)

If you stop here, the key part: Read the Book! /1
@joshscampbell Core to @joshscampbell’s story is an FBI all about country & desperate to avoid politics. That’s easy as a principle; it’s harder as a practice. & FBI’s 2016 investigation into what we now know was widespread Russian intrusion into our election & democracy put FBI to the test. /2
@joshscampbell Back in 2016, some at FBI made some good calls, & some made some bad ones (in my opinion). But what @joshscampbell makes clear is that those calls were made in good faith: that is, in a genuine effort to protect national security & avoid intruding on national politics. /3
@joshscampbell What makes the book so timely is concern that as 2020 heats up those charged w/ protecting nat’l security will feel pressure NOT to make tough calls in good faith. Look at cherry-picked Nunes Memo. Look at Barr globetrotting. Look at how Barr’s sweeping declassification power. /4
@joshscampbell The public servants at FBI—& elsewhere, including DOJ, the intel community, State, & more—aren’t getting the reassurance they need & deserve from our political leadership that they should do what they must to protect the nation & its 2020 election. The opposite, in fact. /5
@joshscampbell So they need to get it from us—from "We the People." We must speak out for their efforts to put country over politics, even if our political leadership is doing the opposite. Good for @joshscampbell for doing so.

Now go read #CrossfireHurricane! /END amazon.com/Crossfire-Hurr…
