I haven’t seen a presidential tweet about the book yet, so here’s my own—because I like it. A lot.

Here’s why. /1
Trump’s disdain for law as constraining behavior is clear. When told the law bars the govt from shooting immigrants for throwing rocks, Trump is disdainful. Law constrains him only indirectly: not b/c he respects it, but b/c he knows most won’t do what they think violates it. /2
Trump’s view of immigration is clear: it's not a humanity problem; not even a policy problem; purely a political problem—& also opportunity. That’s why, even after Trump is told how ineffective it'd be to build a wall or shut the whole border, he persisted. It's all politics. /3
The Trump WH’s take on the past 3 years is clear & there’s surprising overlap w/ critics: frustration. That’s b/c those who wanted real immigration change didn’t get, it & those who wanted to play politics found that judges, lawyers, bureaucrats & Congress didn't want to play. /4
It recalls the 1984 line:
“I am authorized to say that the action we are now reporting may well bring the war within measurable distance of its end.”
That’s where Trump wants Border Wars: always raging, there for him to rage AGAINST, on the brink of being won—but never won. /5
