Odd things going on in Ilford South selection. Don’t know all the ins and outs of the process but interesting that decision to suspend selection was said to be a result of personal intervention for Jeremy Corbyn himself. Interesting precedent to set... labourlist.org/2019/10/ilford…
...as usually with other incidents in local parties (including some anti-Semitism controversies) Labour leader usually says he cannot intervene in local processes. Wonder if this one might come back to haunt him.
This is the statement from @Jas_Athwal the suspended candidate and leader of Redbridge Council. 
Selection meeting was due to take place today. He was told last night he was suspended from the party as a result of sexual misconduct allegations, which he denies and for which he says, there has been no due process. His supporters claim this is a leadership stitch up.

Mr Athwal is Sikh and this process has generated concern from BAME Labour.
Others disagree. Say that pro-leadership candidate (Tarry) would def have won today anyway. Says that panel looking at suspensions met yesterday and looked at several cases, all of which were blind (didn’t know identities). One pro Corbyn person was also suspended.
Suggestion is allegations were serious and that couldn’t be allowed to stand. That is no stitch up and “outrageous” to say otherwise, given nature of allegations,
