Fascinating to see how many polls by YouGov on a wide range of topics and going back several years asked exactly 1,632 adults. YG must be using the same panel (presumably with a few substitutes as people pass away or quit their surveys). Try Googling:

We may be about to witness the biggest game of smoke and mirrors yet over Brexit. Boris Johnson and his crew of wreckers will claim that a deal is very very very close so please don't make us write that extension letter YET. ("Just a *few* more days!") Rebel Tories may go along.
Remember, all alternate options within Parliament (i.e. if we're not talking about the legal route) involve first putting together a majority of MPs in favour of *something else* (VONC, GNU, amendments etc.) If the rebel Tories won't play ball, that becomes almost impossible.
So even though the law demands that an extension be requested forthwith, political pressure may be such that the deadline is allowed to pass for doing so, bringing us that much closer to the 31 October cliff edge.

Crops are being left to rot in the fields because fewer migrant EU workers are willing to come here, even before we've left.

1) Hypothesis: hyperscale cloud co’s alternate annually between spending on data centers (real estate, buildings) and compute/network/storage (CPUs, GPUs, Accelerators, Memory, HDD, etc.) to fill those data centers based on the timing of new semiconductor manufacturing nodes.
2) i.e. 2018 was a year of CPU/GPU/Accelerator/Memory spending based on the 10/12 nanometer node, 2019 was a year of data center (real estate) spending and 2020 will be another year of CPU/GPU/Accelerator/Memory spending based on the 7 nanometer node.
3) The CPU/GPU/Memory spend drags network (switches and fabrics) and HDD with it despite those not necessarily being on the same technological upgrade cycle as even though Moore’s Law has slowed down, nothing else in hardware technology is as powerful.

A bit late to this but lets revisit the disaster that is QEP. Going back several years they’ve tried their damnedest to get more oily. Since 2015 they’ve made $1.6B in property acquisitions. (After a $1B Permian buy in 2014). From 2015 thru 2018 they’ve spent ~$4.1B in CAPEX.
In 2014 oil production was 47mbopd. Q2 2019 oil production was 57mbopd. A 10mbopd increase after $5.7B in spending. 5.7 billion dollars.
Maybe after all this the balance sheet is cleaned up. Nope. Q4 2015 net debt $1.81B and Q2 2019 net debt $1.98B. Won’t get below 2X debt/EBITDA until 2021 per QEP guidance which is questionable at best.

The @washingtonpost is reporting that a variety of contracts to provide services for children at immigrant detention facilities are being cancelled.

It is supposedly a budgetary issue as the number of immigrants exceed the budget provided, so nonessential programs & contracts are being cancelled to pay for essential services.
The order supposedly violates a court ordered settlement.
But is that all that is happening? Unlikely
Designating the costs as "unallowable" doesn't sound like it is strictly a financial decision.

Why the May 22nd date as the date that the costs become unallowable? The inclusion of legal aid services in the list of unallowable expenses may be a big clue.
