Quick look at some of the problems of Brexit and crop farming.

Crops are being left to rot in the fields because fewer migrant EU workers are willing to come here, even before we've left.

Brexit could be a nightmare for wheat farmers too. They expect to have a big surplus to export after a good year, but after 1 November if it's no deal they will face massive tariffs and nobody will want to buy from them.

Other farmers have been trying to get ahead of the problem by rushing to deliver crops before Brexit Day that they would normally ship at a more steady pace.

All in all, it's not good...

Time to bust a Brexit myth
A: Why can't we replace trade with the EU with trade with the rest of the world?
B: The world's huge. That's a problem because stuff has to go by sea, which takes a long time
A: How long?
B: 10-30 days to USA, 19-29 days to India & 23-25 days to China.
A: Hmm. What about the EU?
B: We can drive stuff there in a few hours. Ferry or Channel Tunnel, then keep going.
A: We could fly stuff over instead!
B: No. We currently move 177 times less by air than by sea. There's no way to make a meaningful dent in such a huge difference.
A: I have a cunning plan... What if we called on the plucky RAF to help?
B: Good thinking. Unfortunately they'd only be able to move 1.2% of everything the UK imports. And that's with its entire transport fleet working 24/7.
A: Doesn't sound like much.
B: You're right, it's not.

SOLVING BREXIT
Brexit could be solved if enough brave MPs stood together for the good of the UK. They would have to state, in a cross-party non-partisan manner that EVERY effort had been made to turn the referendum result into workable reality, but it proved IMPOSSIBLE. 1/7
In other words, a collective mea culpa from across the political spectrum: "We tried, but the task proved beyond us ALL. Why? Because there is no scenario in which Brexit can be made to work for the UK. This wasn't clear before the referendum. It is crystal clear now." 2/7
Detail might also be provided of the huge, palpable effort that had been deployed in trying to "make Brexit work", not just in financial terms, but in time, energy, planning, expertise. A secondary consideration, but one which underpinned the seriousness of the main message. 3/7

When all the #Brexit chat is about parliamentary shenanigans it’s easy to forget that these decisions will have real-world impacts, including a potential #nodeal… here’s a quick look at where #nodeal planning currently stands:
1. First the good news: the Government has struck agreements with the USA, Canada and 8 other countries to ensure flights can continue even in the case of no deal (nothing yet on flights to/from/within EU countries though)

Jaguar Land Rover recently agreed 2 build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, same company who trashed our steel industry & emptied workers pension funds.
