Also by “gun-related” crime, you mean nearly all simple gun possession cases with no allegations of use. In NY, first time arrest, the mandatory minimum is 3.5 years. It’s considered a “violent” felony. In another state, it’s “considered walking into a Walmart on a Tuesday.”
