Periodic reminder: improving election integrity and security requires:

1. Reliable paper ballots
2. Post-election audits
3. Protecting state & local infrastructure against hostile adversaries.

All three are urgent & critical. We pay disproportionate attention to #1.
As a technologist, I understand why we're drawn to pay attention to vulnerabilities in voting machines. They're real and serious. But audits and infrastructure protection, while less dramatic and sexy, deserve more attention than they often get. (I'm as guilty of this as anyone).
Anyway, always important to remember that elections are a *system*, not a specific technology or protocol, and their security needs to be analyzed and understood that way.
