Susan Collins rejected Trump characterization of a “phony emoluments clause.”

"It’s part of the Constitution. It’s hardly phony," she told me.
Marco Rubio also said the emoluments clause is a thing.

"Oh, no, it's real, it's there. ...We'll see how the courts come down on it. But the intent of it was to make sure we didn't have leaders that were being paid paid by foreign governments or foreign entities while in office"
Rubio said the White House counsel should be sensitive to the emoluments issue and said sometimes even the appearance of impropriety can be damaging to the office.
