Lindsey Graham was a House manager in the Clinton impeachment and, as part of that, he and his colleagues carried out a "closed door impeachment process" 
And one more time, the formal impeachment hearings against Richard Nixon in the House Judiciary Committee in 1974 was also a "closed door impeachment process."
That first example of a closed-door impeachment process came from the Senate trial of Bill Clinton.
