Nowadays, my mum’s a teachers aide and my dad’s a hospital wardie.
I’ve had opportunities in my life previously unthinkable to working class kids like me.

Politics is relentlessly material for me. Who gets to get an education. Who gets good healthcare. Who gets to retire comfortably, not in poverty.
Caring about fairness means caring about fairness for everyone.

That includes speaking out on “progressive” issues. They’re not separate. Working class women need reproductive rights. Working class kids need a healthy planet. Working class Aboriginal people need a voice.
Dividing us into imaginary opposing camps won’t shut us up, or shut us down.
Australia works best when we all rise together. Labor has always known that. We will always fight for that.
