“I am writing to confirm the agreement of the UK Government” was what Sir Tim Barrow had to write after the EU27 decision to accept extension No 1 in March, to formalise it as a full EU Council decision

On UK law alignment of extension via statutory instrument:

Procedure then changed to “negative” a ie automatically becomes law, but can be “prayed against” to annul. Bill Cash + 81 MPs did for ext 2: BJ did not

In English - UK law change will come into force automatically, won’t need vote, won’t come to vote without Government &Opposition wanting it to.

The legally operable bit of this signed letter from the PM is “..I...confirm the UK’s formal agreement to this extension, as per attached draft Decision” - it will confirm, the EU27 decision as a full EU Council decision, and so a piece of EU law. 
So what’s to stop Opposition tabling a VONC now extension legally accepted by Government? Always thought that they’d only do it at point of legal certainty re extension.
