It’s quite odd that the people calling for civility and unconditional respect of authority are the same ones who normalized Trump and then looked up in shock after his election and ensuing chaos and asked how it had happened.
Hear me out here: it’s almost like authority should be questioned and held to account and that politics isn’t some kind of game or opportunity to attend swanky dinner parties with celebrity friends but a life-or-death struggle that affects actual lives.
I know that’s *naive* and we should all treat it like a sport or like nothing matters, but while these country clubbers are hobknobbing and playing Hail to the Chief and getting misty over pictures of Reagan on a horse, there’s an authoritarian criminal in the White House.
