It is a rather impressive surge. Eight nuclear subs (SSN/SSGN) represents a significant part of the Northern Fleet's fighting power. Add two SSKs for good measure, and it is no mean feat. 2/5
It's not a break out into the Atlantic to cut NATO supply lines. The operating area corresponds to how the Soviet/Rusdian fleets have planned to defend their SSBN strategic nuclear weapons carriers for decades, by creating a defensive #bastion. 3/5
Approximate locations: The Sierra II-class boats Pskov and Nizhny Novgogorod in green, two SSN or SSGN in yellow, and two SSK (?) In red. Two SSN/SSGN unreported. A sensible defensive multilayered setup, and one which the Norwegians apparently has a rather good fix on. 4/5 
Granted, just two missing subs is still enough to cause a headache, and it is possible for all or part of the others to suddenly set sail for the Atlantic proper, but we aren't there yet, and nothing in open sources points to that being the plan. 5/5
