House Intel Committee takes over. Hearings go public. (Huge change in dynamic; voters now watching on)
Top Dem and Republican get max 90 mins each to grill witness. Other members get 5 mins
GOP can request subpoenas / witnesses but Dems must approve. Report published.

Over to House Judiciary Committee. They receive report from Intel.
They will decide whether to bring any articles of impeachment against Trump.
President + his lawyers involved at this stage but unclear exactly how.

If articles of impeachment are recommended then full House has its say.
Up or down vote on articles. Simple majority wins. If any passed then Trump is officially impeached.
(Only ever happened to 2 presidents, Andrew Johnson + Clinton. Nixon resigned before then)

A Senate trial. Supreme Court chief acts as judge, 100 senators are like the jury.
Needs 67 votes for Trump to be removed from office. There are only 47 Dems+independents so at least 20 Republicans must flip.
No president has ever been removed by the Senate.
