This morning’s ridiculous tweet from @albomp is emblematic of @AustralianLabor’s inability to advocate for anything “good” because they’ve abandoned any semblance of moral authority on basically every serious issue.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor The ALP can’t advocate for a freedom to protest, because ALP Premier Palaszczuk showed them exactly what the ALP thinks of the right to protest in Queensland Parliament last week, and ALP Premier Andrews used the police in Victoria to double down. Albanese has nothing to say.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor In the same way, the ALP has nothing to say about wage growth because they created the Fair Work Act which eviscerated workers’ rights to advocate for their interests, strike, and generally apply pressure to bosses to improve their conditions.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor In the same way the ALP can’t complain about cuts to social services because they’ve spent fifteen idiotic years screaming about the importance of surpluses, which the Libs have picked up and run with, gleefully.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor The ALP can’t advocate for climate change action because its Queensland branch is busily doing everything it can to support Adani.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor The ALP can’t support civil liberties because it’s spent so long building up the surveillance state that it’s forgotten how to behave any differently.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor Labor can’t argue for refugee welfare because it created the concentration camps the Libs have sadistically enjoyed using. The entire concept of mandatory detention was an ALP invention for god’s sake.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor ALP can’t have anything useful to say about this week’s controversy about animal cruelty with the Melbourne Cup, because its NSW Opposition Leader was such an enthusiastic supporter of greyhound racing.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor ALP can’t do anything good to support the Hawke/Keating ideal of a clever country because they’ve allowed the copyright industry to pay-for-play in Parliament, and also because their industry policy has spent 40 years spraining outsourcing as a great idea.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor We won’t hear anything from the ALP about a bill of rights because Rudd shitcanned it.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor Banking reform? Gambling reform? Hell no, where would ALP MPs and advisors go for post politics jobs if they jumped off those gravy trains?!
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor Public housing? Nope, the ALP is nowhere because they sold it all off in most states, and are too corruptly beholden to property developers to build any more.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor They can’t even protect the social security system they created from whole cloth, by condemning #robodebt, because robodebt was their idea! Howard’s vision of privatised welfare remains unchallenged in this country ‘cos the ALP is missing in inaction.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor Find me a problem they could get kudos for solving which they haven’t created. Show me one area where their vision for the future of this country differs from Scott Morrison’s. A bit of differentiation? Hahahaha nope.
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor No moral authority to do anything. Unless and until they stand the fuck up and start hammering stakes into the ground around their values. I’d dearly love to know what their values are in 2019, and I shouldn’t have to guess. #laborvalues
@AlboMP @AustralianLabor Explain yourselves, dickheads! What is your moral centre? What drives you? How do you want to serve us to be better? Why should we cede you any moral authority, why shouldn’t we just write you off as the useless pack of election losers you’ve so desperately been trying to be?
