I wanted to ask a few questions. I want you to think about each answer. Your life is in your hands.
1. Do you understand the magnitude of food addiction? Do you think it’s worse or better than say alcohol? Do you think it’s a real addiction?
Sugar addiction is very accepted and you can even feed that addiction all day at work. It would be frowned upon to drink your vodka at work, but not to eat your sugar. In fact, many bosses and places of employment even go so far as to supply you with your addiction.
Then everyone, including you, cannot figure out why productivity goes down in the afternoon. Why you need a nap in the afternoon. Is it something really serious or is it just a simple phenomenon of your blood sugar falling back down?
2. Do you believe you may have a sugar addiction? Is food addiction just people hiding in their closets eating cake?
If you have ever been UNABLE to say “no thanks” to foods like Mac and cheese, bread, chips, oatmeal, fruit, potatoes, cake, and ice cream you are, most likely, an addict. If you’ve ever thought “I’ll start tomorrow” over and over again, you’re most likely an addict.
If you’re going about your business but your brain starts thinking about pizza, chips, soda, etc and it will NOT cease with the thoughts, you’re most likely an addict. If you make excuses why moderation etc is fine, you’re most likely an addict.
3. Do you understand that the reason you want all these carbs like grains, yogurt, granola, cereal, cereal bars, oatmeal, and fruit is because you’re addicted?
The reason you keep eating these types of food is because you immediately get a sugar hit. Your brain knows what it wants. The problem is you’ve been fooled, like me, that all of those things are healthy. But all they are is a drug to fill your addiction.
4. Do you think addiction is a strong word? The wrong word? What will you do to stop your addiction?
I’ve heard PLENTY of people make fun of drug addicts and alcoholics. You may have even been that person at one time. “All they have to do is stop drinking, doing meth, etc!” Do you know how hard they’ve had to work to get past their addiction?
Are you willing to do the work necessary to get past it?

5. Once you get past addiction, will you mourn the food you left behind? Will you miss the poison that got you here? Will you have your poison in moderation? Will you have just a “fun size” dose of your drug?
6. Do you even TRULY KNOW your underlying personality? Do you know the actual person that has been living under the fog of processed foods? What will your true self look like? What an exciting thought!! What an adventure you can be on.
What a bada$$ you will be by kicking sugar to the curb.
7. And this is a really important one......How will your relationships change once you’re no longer an addict? How will your spouse react? How will your friends react? Will it be with jealousy?
Encouragement? Unfortunately, this may not be what you want or what you can even believe could possibly happen.
8. How will you feel when most of your ailments go away once you kick your addiction? Your high blood pressure? Your acid reflux? Your psoriasis? Your arthritis? Your need for a new knee and hip? Your anxiety? Your sleep? Your diabetes?
Feel free to comment if you want. Mostly I wanted to start some introspection on your part. No one thinks of food this way but this is where your healing will begin. I truly believe this is what we are dealing with. If it wasn’t an addiction there wouldn’t be so many people sick
There wouldn’t be an obesity epidemic. There wouldn’t be 6 year olds on blood pressure meds an so on and so on. When. Does. It. End.
