All PBMs do something of this nature & plans vary. They should look for & prevent abuse & fraud, but as outlined in their own literature on policy, Benecard is absolutely interfering btw Drs & patients by using CDC GLs & unilateral decisions on what is appropriate for a patient.
Per CDC, based on their clarification of intent of #opioid guidelines; these policies meet definition of misapplication & misinterpretation. Being as @CDCgov @CDCInjury neglects to intervene in official capacity; PBMs, #healthcare insurance companies will continue this practice.

#breakfast is touted the "most important" meal of the day. what does "important" mean?

breakfast is the highest #sugar meal of the day so a good meal to target to reduce total sugar.

Critical that US recognizes how heartless its insurance system’s been for decades & fixes it. They deflected blame to drug companies but really insurance just didn’t want to do its job. Not covering #insulin hurts a diabetic. That sucks. Not covering #coronavirus hurts everyone.
While you’re social distancing, if you end up dwelling on who to blame & what to fix about healthcare so patients can afford their medicine, I’ve got the book for you. The Great American Drug Deal: A New Prescription for Innovative and Affordable Medicines amazon.com/dp/1733058915/…

#Tweetorial time! Today's topic: insulin!

We all know that insulin release is stimulated by glucose. So, let's start with a question.

You give a patient the same amount of glucose, either orally or via IV. Does one method cause a more robust insulin response than the other?
The insulin response is much greater to the oral glucose, even though both cause the same increase in blood sugar (Lindgren et al., 2011)! To understand why, we need to explore the wild world of incretins. But first, let's circle back to insulin!
#highyield review: Insulin is a peptide with an alpha and beta chain connected by three disulfide bonds. The most important insulin-dependent glucose transporter is GLUT-4, expressed on adipose tissue and striated muscle. But, many tissues don't need insulin to uptake glucose!

There has been a lot of debate on the impact of a #tradedeal with #Trump on #NHS medicine prices. Here’s a thread detailing why people are right to be worried… 1/
Firstly, the US has history. #Bigpharma spends more influencing politicians in Washington than any other industry. So the US has repeatedly used #trade agreements to force changes on countries that will boost the industry’s profits. 2/

I wanted to ask a few questions. I want you to think about each answer. Your life is in your hands.
1. Do you understand the magnitude of food addiction? Do you think it’s worse or better than say alcohol? Do you think it’s a real addiction?
Sugar addiction is very accepted and you can even feed that addiction all day at work. It would be frowned upon to drink your vodka at work, but not to eat your sugar. In fact, many bosses and places of employment even go so far as to supply you with your addiction.
Then everyone, including you, cannot figure out why productivity goes down in the afternoon. Why you need a nap in the afternoon. Is it something really serious or is it just a simple phenomenon of your blood sugar falling back down?
